Times Museum Screening Season 2013
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 20 Dec 2013 - 16 Feb 2014

Thanks to the brand-new technology and extensive use of internet on-line sharing, moving image, as a tool of recording, narration and emotions expression, is much easier to get than ever. Creators of moving images, however, have been facing numerous opportunities as well as challenges from funding, technology, distribution channels and audiences. Under this uncertain, variable climate, museums and art spaces offer a brand new possibility.

Guangdong Times Museum has been keeping close attention on documentary and independent films at home and abroad. Meanwhile, “Museum Cinema” is the idea behind the Times Museum Screening Season. The screening season aims at showcasing moving images that centered on a variety of themes and cultural backgrounds. Through those works, audiences can travel around the world, peruse others stories and experience different life attitudes. Meanwhile, those works are not made for monologue-style information sharing or emotional expression. Instead, the Museum, as a platform to stimulate “dialogues”, hopes to motivate audience to express how they feel and bring their creative thinking into full play.

The Times Museum Screening Season 2013 brings local audiences with six programmes, each with its own distinctive features, which include The 8th Nordic Documentary Film Festival, N-Box – N-Minutes Video Art Festival Selection, The Future in Past Tense。Voices in Silences – A Retrospective of Yau Ching’s Film and Video Art, Asia World Screening Program – Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Screening Project in China & Third Season of ISAAS(2013), Animation Series – History of German Animated Film and The Local Voices. We will be inviting directors or scholars to present in a series of talks and presentations, who will further communicate and share with local audiences.
