The exhibition features 48 prints by local artist Sou Pui Kun, including 17 pieces of copperplate etchings from his early creative period, as well as 31 pieces of his more recent intaglio prints created with ultraviolet curable inks.
A scholar-cum-artist, Sou Pui Kun has invented a new printmaking technique using ultraviolet curable inks. Some of the exhibits present more abstract shapes, being products of the experimental process while exploring the technique. In others the artist used exquisite lines and tones to express his ideas about life, impressions of the city and exploration of social issues. The exhibition will reveal to the audience the effects of the two printmaking techniques for copperplate etching and intaglio prints using ultraviolet curable inks, and in particular, the latter’s unique charms.
