PROJECTS is a series of exhibitions within the Contemporary Art Society space at 59 Central Street that transform and use the architecture of the building, drawing into focus questions around modes of display and the encounter between contemporary art and architecture.
Artists’ responses to war and conflict can be direct testimonials to personal experience or references to historical moments. Featuring artists including Pio Abad, Shirin Neshat, Alfred Tarazi, Goncalo Mabunda, Lee Miller and Mark Neville and comprising photography, moving image, sculpture and works on paper, this display investigates how artists use their chosen medium to explore and express their reactions to war. Curated by Collections Patron Midge Palley.
