Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (1884~1920), a Jewish Italian painter and sculptor, is one of the most renowned artists in the 20th century. During his brief yet extraordinary life of 35 years, he produced a unique and distinctive body of work. Most of his works are now in public and private collections around the world and some are valued at nearly one billion NT dollars each on the art market. It is indeed not an easy task to assemble his works for holding this exhibition. Held jointly by the KMFA and Modigliani Institut Archives Lègales Paris-Rome, this exhibition also showcases works by and important documents about some of Modigliani’s fellow artists, including M. Kisling and M. Jacob. This is the first exhibition especially dedicated to Modigliani ever in Taiwan and Asia, showing comprehensive works that can only be paralleled by the collections of some European museums.
