This exhibition is one of the major activities celebrating the 150th birthday of Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), one of the most representative figures of Art Nouveau. It showcases 178 important works by Mucha from the collection of the Mucha Foundation, including oil paintings, drawings, poster designs, craft designs, and commercial designs. Many of the works on view are already designated as national treasures of the Czech Republic. In 2011 (the Year of Design in Taiwan), the Mucha exhibition starts Asian tour from Taiwan. It demonstrates how Mucha perfectly combined artistic aesthetics, commercial designs, and lifestyles to form the so-called Art Nouveau. This exhibition is expected to bring inspirational references for cross-disciplinary, cultural and creative industries in Taiwan.
