Art Expo Malaysia 2012

Art Expo Malaysia 2012 is back! The art fair will take place from September 27 to 30 (well fit into the 1MCAT Festival) at MATRADE Exhibition & Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur. This four-day mammoth art event has come to the sixth edition this year, attracting more than 60 participating art galleries and organisation from 20 countries. This largest international art event in Malaysia still remains Free Admission to the public, and is probably the only art fair in the world that is so!

The Malaysia bandwagon will have a good number of reputable exhibitors including Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery, National Visual Arts Gallery Malaysia, Art Accent, Artseni Gallery, City Art Gallery, G13 Gallery, KL Lifestyle Art Space, Pelita Hati Gallery of Art, Sutra Foundation, Yahong Art Gallery, Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers, as well as first-time participants such as Artemis Art, Segaris Art Center, Purplehouz Fine Arts, Core Design Gallery, Blue Dots Art, The Malaysian Art Centre, etc. These galleries will represent a great mix of established pioneer artists, superstars and emerging young artists.

Other than the largest delegation from our home country, art lovers may take this opportunity to view more than 2,000 pieces of artworks exhibited by international art galleries from countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, The Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, India, Iran, Hungary, Britain, France and Spain.

From the West all the way from Spain, an astounding set of 13 pieces of Joan Miro artworks will be exhibited. Also check out the Picasso piece, do not miss it!

From the East, top Chinese contemporary artist Feng Zhengjie will present 6 pieces of artworks from his latest series, where he explores on different technique and expression style. Miao Xiaochun, world renowned digital artist, has captivated visitors of the International Art Expo Malaysia since 2009 with his spectacular 3-D animations, and this year, he will unveil his latest works – ‘Neo-Cubism Projection’ in Art Expo Malaysia.

There will also be an Embassy Zone, in which Embassy of Argentine, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, and Switzerland will be showcasing the art talents from their respective countries.

In addition, an art auction called The Young Contempo Auction (a new initiative by Henry Butcher Art Auctioneers) will be held during the Expo. This inaugural auction will feature 39 lots aiming to nurture and promote works of young and emerging artists from Malaysia, with the proceeds to be channeled towards programmes that aid fledgling artists.

Art Expo Malaysia is under the esteemed royal patronage of Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Perlis, DYTM Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra ibni Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and DYTM Tuanku Hajjah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
