Artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Alexander Calder expressed ideas of both space and time through their mobiles sculptures.

Influenced by the work of these artists, Tokyo-based product designer Shigeki Fujishiro displays an expression of spatial relationships in his project ‘Frames’. Made of hinoki, or Japanese cypress wood, Fujishiro's mobile sculptures appear to levitate, casting ever-changing shadows around them.

THE U FACTORY is a temporary experimental platform curated by Underscore, dedicated to discussion, exchange and execution of shared visions. In the four-month period from October 2013 to January 2014, THE U FACTORY will take temporary residence in an indoor and outdoor space of almost 20,000 square feet in Gillman Barracks. It will host an assembly of like-minded local and international creatives from the various fields of design, fashion, film, art, food, and music in the form of events, exhibitions and showcases.
