This exhibition of recent works by multidisciplinary artist Kai Lam and Ben Puah is curated by Cultural Medallion recipient Lee Wen.
The title of the exhibition suggests a duality of meanings at play. On one hand, “Hand (Gun)” signals an object of violence, or a certain feeling of security. On the other hand, “Zen” signifies the contemplation of the mind and peacefulness. As such, the artists hope to present the contradictions that surface from the human conditions through their works, by exposing the beauty, anguish, and humour in mankind.
The works are questions based on the evolution of modern day culture , forming a connection between the artists andtheir audience, bringing out mindsets concerning the urban consumerist lifestyle, cultural practices and the value of art. The viewer is left toponder the emotional aspects of the juxtaposed images and to interpret what they view from the exhibition.
