A Light Sleep is a Fringe Commission where artist Shigeaki Iawai will work with Singaporeans to come up with a work based on Singapore’s multicultural communities. Lullabies sung at home – each with its different cultural background and unique memories of the singer and listener – will be researched and recorded, to form part of the installation. Iwai’s works often involve interactions with multicultural urban communities. He has participated in many international exhibitions including the Asia-Pacific Triennale in 1999, Havana Biennale in 2000 and Yokohama International Triennale of Contemporary Art in 2005.
