Plasticity of Memory by Kyungeun Han
Date: 2 May - 25 May 2014

Kyungeun Han's 'Plasticity of Memory' is an exhibition about invisible pain, memory and trauma. Plasticity means the deformation of a material undergoing non-reversible changes of shape in response to applied forces. The artist compares it to a man's memory, especially trauma. There is scar after injury while the emotional scare is left as invisible memory. Scar of memory, which a person cannot feel hurt, is trauma and plasticity of memory.

'Plasticity of Memory' is visualized work of invisible scar, and for this, the artist invited participants and made them look at own scar through writing a letter. After it, the artist made injury on a body using special makeup on their bodies and left it as photograph.

The exhibition announces 17 works among the artist's works during the passing year. There are palm-sized photo and unorganized text at the edge of the photos. Text is a title of each work and also a clue to trace memory revealed on the photo.
