The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea(MMCA) is pleased to present Spot Connection, the Final Exhibition of the First Half of 2014.
This exhibition sheds light on the works of nine artists who have participated in international exchange programs including the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists Programme and the International Artists Residency Program, which were initiated by MMCA Changdong Art Studio. This year, in celebration of diplomatic ties between Korea and Nepal, we have broadened our international exchange by inviting artists recommended by Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre, Nepal.
The exhibition title Spot Connection makes reference to live news coverage in television broadcasting, thereby expressing our wish to present vivid scenes of creation by artists in studio and share their working process.
For the past three to six months, artists of different nationalities (Nepal, Germany, Britain, Israel, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong) received inspiration for their creative activities and undertook new artistic experimentation at MMCA Art Studio, a vanguard of contemporary art. The exhibition showcases installations that utilize studio space as well as experimental works in various media that include drawing, video, and sculpture.
