Stirring Still by Woo-Hyuk Bin
Date: 8 May - 4 Jun 2014

As fifth OCI Young Creatives program, Woo-Hyuk Bin's solo exhibition entitled 'Stirring Still' will be held.

The artist mainly expresses forest, lake or sky he captured from surroundings with charcoal and coloring. To him, forest is a room of his mind where his hurt and its memory, from childhood to now, can be put. Psychological trauma and inner complicated elements are visualized as a series of solid-colored landscape. In this exhibition, 20 paintings done in Germany will be featured.

'Gloomy Day' depicts forest he visited at a moment of anguish. Not only this, but other works with the names of places in Germany also reveal his ironic feeling, loneliness and hurt. As the title of the exhibition says, a wave of emotion is paradoxically expressed as silent forest.

There are blurred but sharp line and a change of shape through utilizing charcoal can be found, this looks like a black and white photo and forms a delicate space co-existing silence and shout.

Forest is the only place where helped the artist to start painting over. The artist expects the audience can share their hurt with each other and heal themselves.
