With the theme 'Lucid Dream', Joori Lee will show drawing, painting and installation to explore hierarchy and a issue of desire and suppression.
She expresses a status of conflict and confusion in lucid dream as an imaginal space covering a boundary between the reality and surreality. Through newly created and transformed real facts, she expresses anger and desire for existing power and repression.
The painting 'Last City' overwhelms the audience with a trace, which looks like a bloodstain from dragons. It is full of disassembled building and wriggling forms. Those images infers an end of a city where exploitation and plunder are rampant.
Her works are a multi-dimensional space where creation and extinction happen, and they make us to look back an essence of a man as reminding of impersonal relationship or blind faith for a machine derived from capitalism.
