The exhibition at Ilmin Museum of Art with keywords, memory and records, requests works to film directors and selects video art from the contemporary artist in new context. Screening programs in Korean Film Archive will introduce 13 films created for an art space. Also, public programs will focus on talks with the artists, directors and critics.
Ilmin Museum of Art has opened the documentary archive in 2002 and held annual documentary screening since 2005. 'Total Recall' aims for expanding a frame of screening utilizing the museum venue. Starting from the project this year, the museum will explore a relationship between film, art and documentary in more comprehensive view as well as provide a new forum for idea exchange with contemporary, artistic and suggestive characteristics.
'Total Recall' defines a concept of a documentary film as a non-neutral memory system or record method. While previous screenings at the museum focused on showing narration of completed memory and record in a different space, 'Total Recall' suggests the way of record and memory embracing video works of contemporary art. The exhibition is composed of different works by film directors and artists having the common context of the museum.
