VIDEOCRACY
Artist(s): Keun-Byung YOOK
Date: 19 Oct - 9 Dec 2012

Between stopped stopped scenes, there is experience, thoughts, and philosophy. As that scenes gather, videocracy is started. To Keun-Byung Yook, invitation from Kassel Documenta was a turning point and dilemma at the same time. Even though he has been known as the greatest video artist after Nam-Jun Paik, has suffered from growing pains together.
Keun-Byung Yook's solo exhibition 'VIDEOCRACY' has been announce at Leon Biennale in 1995, but his work 'Survival is History, 1995' is the first time to be showed in Korea, and other 5 recent audio / visual installations will be exhibited tougher with drawing, video and photographs about these works.
He focuses on fundamental issues human has,  and shows it as complex spectacle of video and sound. A circulation of life and ankh in his work embraces the artist's unconscious for karma and sorrow. 'Sorrow' in this time has not a bad meaning, but a positive view in his philosophy.
Also, the documentary 'Grandmother Hoon', which talks about comfort woman, will be introduced. It will show a way how the artist communicates with a society and public.
