Insa Art Space has been supporting new artists through art contests annually. Arko Young Art Frontier, providing an opportunity to artists under 35, will introduce 5 artists. As the first one, 'Was It a Cat I Saw?' by Yoon Hwan Bae will be held.
Bae's exhibition is his experiment based on paintings and drawing as a desire for expression as the artist and a body of desire. Images from everyday's experience is based on reality but not reproductive description. The artist interweaves a well-organized passage of 'fantasy' like a storyteller so that he expects delivers aboriginality of drawing and a desire for expression to the viewers. Such series of process is composed in nonlinear form like palindrome. For this, his work images, 'playground,' 'Routine Comics' series, 'Golden Soup,' and 'Honeymoon is over,' created since 2011, will be on view as they are put on 50-meter canvas roll. Large painting will be announced as half-opened roll, not publishing whole story.
Yoon Hwan Bae is interested in a critical mind in a society or history, and usually shows drawing and painting works related with narrative. His series of works appear according to a try to express various stories. Recently, he has participated in the exhibition at Common Center, Seoul and been selected as online artist at 2011 Sabina Museum Art Project.
