The Seoul Museum of Art (Director Kim Hong-hee) is set to hold an exhibition titled Interspace Dialogue as part of the Free Biennial for successful preparation of the 8th Media Biennale, which will be held in 2014. The exhibition will be held in May, which is designated as Family Month, under a unique concept, namely, “a meeting of architecture and experimental movies”.
Under the theme of ‘recycling’ or ‘up-cycling’, which is a hot current issue around the world, four invited architects will design a movie theater with waste architectural and industrial materials such as tires, non-woven fabrics, and plastic. The architecture will provide new spatial experiences to people who visit the museum to see a movie.
In particular, the Off and Free International Expanded Cinema and Art Festival (Organizing Committee Director Jeong Jae-hyeong), which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, is participating in this exhibition as a program partner, and will present 64 experimental and artistic films. This exhibition will consist of works by 76 experimental film directors from ten countries including US, Britain, Finland, Canada, and Japan. Free Radicals by filmmaker Pip Chodorov has been selected as the opening movie of the exhibition. He will visit Korea to attend the opening ceremony on May 7. The exhibition will run from May 07-26 (Tue-Sun.), 2013 on the 3rd floor of the main building of the Seoul Museum of Art.
