Art Flash
2 or 3 Things I Know About Nam June Paik

On the occasion of KIAF2013, a special exhibition will be held for Art Flash, mainly showcasing the works of Nam June Paik (1932-2006), who enabled the peak of 20th and 21st century art. The works that will be displayed at the exhibition account for only a small percentage of Paik’s entire works. However, the exhibition will present a poetic vision, bringing together Paik’s profound insight into technology and his inspired narrations. Marcel Duchamp built a world of artworks that had a substantial influence in the history of modern art as early as around 1910. It was only in the 1990s that a comprehensive understanding was developed of his world of artworks. Likewise, sufficient understanding and evaluation of Paik’s world of artworks has yet to take place. What is evident, however, is that the importance of the works of Paik will gain greater attention as modern art further reflects and examines the world and society we live in. Paik is the future of modern art. This exhibition will be no more than small ripples compared to the future large flow towards the artist. However, it is an extremely meaningful opportunity for a greater number of people and artists to examine, in detail, Paik’s world of artworks.
