Such as scrap iron plate and old tree, Hee Jo Nam has used various materials and added the new meanings to them. She tries to find historical background and stories the materials have, and combince with her pictorial and artistic reasons. Her semiabstract artworks are expected to suggest another new opportunity to the art market in Korea.
about the artist
Hee Jo Nam is a 1961 born artist. She had worked fine art, like portraits with India ink, and oriental paintings, but since she started studying at Pratt, New York, in 2000, has drawn semiabstract paintings to express sceneries, a city view or a human life with mixed colours and creative skills. Also, using ceramics and iron plates and carving woods, she shows a variety of lives in the world.
