'The Long and Winding Road' by Byoung-Choon Park aims to look back dilemma of Korean contemporary art through veteran artist's work. Park has showed unrivaled and active art experiment among existing Korean painters beyond stagnant Korean painting.
As he said that creation is a new thinking, his creative idea and advanced technique were extended to installation and solid works. Such changes in atelier and form and formative and aesthetic development made him stand as the installation artist.
For this exhibition, Sungkok Art Museum introduces 66 selected art pieces among his works after 1988. In the first hall, 50 works from his school days to late 1990s will be on display. Theses were made before he became well-known artist. With a contour line with thick and black ink, he expressed inner mind through bold and vivid acrylic. Also, using conté, pastel, charcoal, he showed a landscape of a life, human desire and instinct, soul and etc. In the second hall, Park's art pieces after 2000 will be exhibited. Especially on the second floor, there is unfamiliar red landscape, which is Hampi in India where unique volcanic topography exists. Psychological warmness of Hampi is linked to canvas in humane expression and order.
