Mind Cloud
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 14 Jun - 7 Jul 2013

Sungkok Art Museum is pleased to announce the group exhibition curated by five interns from the museum. The exhibition will feature photo, video, installation, drawing and performance of eight young artists working in Korea, Germany and France, Hyun Mo Koo, Kwang Soo Park, Chung Wook Yang, A-Ram Lee, Ji Yeon Lee, Seong Hyun Cho, Yo Han Han and Seung Hee Hong.

As many said, the new exhibition started from a question for why 'here and now' is disappeared from us. We are existing as 'being one' over a same network in real time like 'digital nomad' in the ubiquitous society. How we make a balance between the inner world, extended simultaneity, and the outside with the inevitable uniqueness? The artists of today live based on this question.

Hyun Mo Koo's video 'neighborhood' shows a time and space of surrounding environments he has lived in video. Yo Han Han also expressed himself in space and time through video installation with turned 'backs'. The artist talks about relationships in 'invisible but existing' world.
Meanwhile, A-Ram Lee focuses on 'Clinamen' by Epicouros and shows the conceptual works. Using objects, which regulate something, such as a clock or compass, the artist presents a delicate 'difference' occurring necessarily.
Ji Yeon Lee is interested in means to move, like an elevator, escalator and bridge, so that expressed people passing by these in collage. The artist experienced a moment of obscurity between the subject and the object. Kwang Soo Park expressed continuous moves even while time stood still as a a trace of 'vibration' in drawing. Inspired by 'Der Zwang zur Tiefe' by Patrick Suskind, Seung Hee Hong created a moment of encountering an object and oneself in her intended space in objet and photo.
Also, Chung Wook Yang made accumulating 'burdens' during a life in a kinetic sculpture. Seong Hyun Cho shows a media performance 'Sonic Trace' to give an experience of the time when light and dark intersecting in a space 'solid: a boundary between light and dark'.

Eight artist discover a meaning of 'mind cloud' with own works. Omnipresent but unseized, the time and spaces surrounding them will be showed.
