Roppongi Art Night 2014, a gala all-night festival presenting a diverse array of art exhibitions and performances throughout central Tokyo’s iconic Roppongi entertainment district, will take place nonstop from 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2014.
The all-night extravaganza, which attracted 830,000 visitors last year and is now celebrating its sixth year, is being organized by Tokyo Metropolitan Government, The National Art Center, Tokyo, Suntory Museum of Art, Tokyo Midtown, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, Mori Art Museum, MORI Building Co., Ltd., and Roppongi Streets Shopping Association. Roppongi Art Night will present art exhibitions and theatrical, musical and other performances in stores, restaurants, parks and streets, as well as artistically designed and decorated floats, food stalls offering culinary arts, and much, much more. Also planned are special exhibitions, performances, films, and other nighttime artistic experiences and leading venues in the area, including Roppongi Hills, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo Midtown, Suntory Museum of Art, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT and The National Art Center. Most activities will be free of charge. Besides inspiring people through creative artistic expression, the event will greatly contribute to the Roppongi area’s ongoing evolution through art as an innovative model for urban towns. Katsuhiko Hibino, renowned for his multidisciplinary style, is delegated as the artistic director, continuing from the last year. Under The event will be held as part of the Tokyo Culture Creation Project, which is organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture.

Theme of the Roppongi Art Night 2014
This year’s artistic director is Hibino Katsuhiko and the theme is “Move Your Body!” which focuses on the “physical nature of art.” You’ll see not only conventional art works, but“audience-participation parades,” interactive art, food stalls and much more take to the streets.
