SICF 14 Grand Prize Artist Exhibition '2780' by Yurina Shiomi
Date: 25 Oct - 27 Oct 2013

The grand prize winner of Art Festival in the contest format 'Spiral Independent Creators Festival 14' in May, Yurina Shiomi will hold the solo exhibition at Spiral Showcase. Shiomi expresses a difference between outward impression and inner thought and 'skin', a boundary between in and out of oneself with textile.
Through 'SICF 14,' the artist created 'Hanging Billy' to express a real person 'Billy Morigan,' who suffered from multiple personality. This work consists of fabrics in brilliant but plain pattern and 24 hands look like hanging on a chain. Experienced person in such unstable work can feel Billy's 'anxious' and lonely situation in 23 personalities. The title '2780' is her birth weight to express 'restriction of life'.
