Yumiko Utsu is a photographer whose theme is the creatures, “other” lives stayed out of the ark in other words, and her photo book “Out of Arks” literally refers the theme. In 2006, she won the prize in “HITOTSUBO award” thatknown as a gateway to success for Japanese young photographers, and after that her exhibition has been held in Korea, China, and Hungary. In the same year, her photographs were highly praised in Paris PHOTO as rare contemporary photographs from Japan with a sense of humor, and Utsu’s photographs still attract new fans today. Titled as “World”, the exhibition is composed with her popular works at its center, and forms a Mandala like photo installation. Besides, she will exhibit her work titled “Rose Window” in the group exhibition at G/P+g3/ gallery, our new gallery in the new art complex built in Shinonome named TOLOT. The work was popularly received in unseen photo fair in the Netherlands last year.
