As a designer at Marimekko, the life style brand in Finland, Fujiwo Ishimoto has received great attention from all over the world with his work style, which combines a vast nature in Finland with Japanese sensibility.
Since 1989, he has done ceramic works, which uses flowers and scenery in his imagination, at the art department society of Finnish pottery brand 'Arabia'. As using different materials, Fabric and soil, Fujiwo's work gives a feeling of consistent aesthetic.
In his second large scale solo exhibition in Japan, he used black soil for bright sunshine flooded round space and atrium, and ceramic works imaging the Moon on a pond at night and Marimekko's fabrics including 'Selanne', which expresses a scene of waterside.
