HORINO Masao (1907-1998) was an important figure in the establishment and development of modern Japanese photography. Although part of his work has been known and appreciated, until now there has never been a comprehensive survey of his entire photographic career. Through surviving prints and original books and magazines in which his work was published, this exhibition uncovers lost traces of the photographer HORINO Masao and provides new insight into the history of Japanese photography in the 1930s.
