Tokyo Portraits
Artist(s): Hiroh KIKAI
Date: 13 Aug - 2 Oct 2011

Hiroh Kikai was born in Yamagata Prefecture in 1945. He went to university to study philosophy and after graduation, he had been wandering among various odd jobs including truck driver or crew member of a tuna fishing boat, until his encounter with art works of Diane Arbus, which turned out to be a turning point of Kiroh. He decided to pursue photography for career from 1969 when he was deeply impacted by Arbus' works. Since then Hiroh has been devoting himself to expressing honesty in his presentation of photographs.

In this exhibition 200 monochrome art works will be selected from his "Persona" and "Tokyo Labyrinth" series.
