The renowned Chinese writer, Lu Hsun, Praised Russian Art as, "Sincere, but not obstinate; beautiful, but not despotic; powerful but not violent. but it it not calm either. It has a great impact." The Chinese new art revolutionist, Hsu Beihong even used the word "fresh" to describe the development of Russian art after the October Revolution of 1917. This kind of style is strongly related to the constant efforts of Peredvizhniki. The artists from this group took real life as their point of departure, emphasizing that art should be realistic, not imaginary. They claimed that art was not only for art's sake but connected with reality. The artistic style that emerged as a result of this viewpoint became known to history as realism. It was this style that represented the face of Russian art on the world stage and emerged as an impotent school in art history.
China has a long history of interaction with Russia so this stele influenced China deeply, but Taiwan is less familiar to it. the exhibition, the USSR Art Series Socialist Realist Painting, is curated by the Mountain Art Foundation and presents masterpieces by such artists as Surikov, Serov, Levitan and Maksimov, who influenced art education in china and inspired 20th century Chinese art.
