2012 International Tour Exhibition of French-Salon Taiwan Artists Association
Date: 24 Feb - 1 Apr 2012

In modern art history, the public exhibition of art in France played an important role in elevating the general quality of art and in encouraging young artists. From the Salon Exhibition to the World Expo, large-scale exhibitions had been the force that propelled the art forward.

The Salon, or Salon de Paris, which began in 1667 and refers to the famous public art exhibitions that had seen changes in names and exhibition forms. The even more widely known Salon d'Automne, which began in 1903, has also been held for more than one hundred years. The ideas developed and debated in these Salon exhibitions wield profound influence to artistic development in the whole word.

Founded in 1997, French-Salon Taiwan Artists Association (TFA) was officially registered in 2003. The founder of TFA is Dr. Zhao Zong-guan and the current president is Mr. Hsu Ho-ho. TFA consists of Taiwan artists who participated in Salon d'Automne and Salon du Printemps, living in Taiwan or abroad. TFA aims to collect the Taiwan artists and their activities in these salons, including relevant documents and works, and to promote artistic exchanges and exhibitions. Since 2005, TFA organizes domestic touring exhibitions which won considerable critical acclaims from the cultural and artistic circles. With the efforts of TFA, Taiwan artists are increasingly and better known in French Salon exhibitions, contributing to the international cultural exchange between Taiwan and France.

This exhibition will be the first site for the TFA 2012 Touring Exhibition, showing works by 62 artists and covering works in various media and in both Chinese and Western styles. These works embody the aim and characteristics of TFA. To promote the social and artistic education, NMH cooperates with TFA for this occasion and wishes all success for this exhibition.
