Art Revolution Taipei 2013
Date: 3 May - 6 May 2013

“My Revolution” – Beholding Creativities by 237 Artists from 42 Nations

Making a hit with 90% of the exhibiting artists having sales during the show, with great support from world-class high-powered collectors, Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) will launch its 3rd-edition, running May 3-6, at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3. Carrying further its dual curatorial axes – “presenting artists at the center of the exhibition stage” and “designing the entire art fair as a colossal artwork” – the 3rd A.R.T. features “My Revolution” as its annual theme. The entire exhibition will be designed into nine sections: Curatorial Classics, Taiwan Contemporary Art, China Contemporary Art, International Contemporary Art, New York Contemporary Art Fund, International Artist Juried Competition, Art with Entrepreneurs, Art and Design, and Art Your Compassion. It brings more distinguished artists to participate than before, with 237 artists from 42 countries.

With “My Revolution” as its annual theme, the Art Director of A.R.T. Lee Sun-Don expects that every participating artist will present at least one piece of artwork created on the motif or with the media that s/he never tried before. In addition, Lee points out, 20% of the exposition space will be reserved for academic, experimental, and avant-garde displays, in hopes of nurturing the talented Taiwan artists to become art masters, parallel to Damien Hirst of UK, Philippe Pasqua of France, Jeff Koons in USA, and Ryü Murakami in Japan.

“Art Your Compassion,” one of the most eye-catching events of A.R.T., is to invite the celebrities, social elites, and entrepreneurs at home and abroad to create artworks for benefit sale. Last year, it had drawn the public to queue at 9:00 the night before the sale, and 600 pieces of artwork were sold in just one and half hours. This year, the legacy will continue. The participants include: Lee Teng-Hui, the former President of Taiwan; Mao Chi-Kuo, Vice Premier of Executive Yuan; Matthew Carl Lien, famous musician and environmentalist; Shih Jui-Jen, Director of Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei; Maggie Tsai, CEO of Fubon Art Foundation; Lin Cho-Liang, famous violinist; Tseng Ya-Ni, international golf champion; Steven Hung, Director of Waterland Financial Holdings; Steven Pan, Chairman of Formosa International Hotels; Chao Xi-Jiang, Chairman of Ruentex Development; and the like. There are also participants from the entertainment business, such as famous model Lin Chi-Ling, pop queen Jolin Tsai, popular singer Jam Hsiao, female chorus S.H.E., Tony Yang, Amber Kuo, Janine Chang, Kai Ko, Cheer Chen, Crowd Lu, and other hundreds of celebrities. Each artwork will be priced at NT$1000 and Each collector is allowed to collect two artworks at most. The proceeds will go directly to the Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation.

Last but the least is the trademarked Dao Café’ of A.R.T. In collaboration with GP DEVA, A.R.T. 2013 will present “Cheer along with Kangxi” — a reception with the Pu’er tea of 310 years old – at the night of VIP Preview. We also prepare 1000 pieces of Nine Dragons Imperial Cup for our VIP guests. Please come join us for the antique Pu’er of the Kangxi era, and in the meantime enjoy the marvel of artworks from all over the world.
