Longest-running art fair in Asia-Pacific area, Art Taipei is 20-years-old! Along with the development of Contemporary Art in Asia, Art Taipei witnessed the initiative of Taipei Biennial, Taiwan Pavilion in Venice Biennale, also participated in the rapid-growing Market of Chinese Contemporary Art all over the world. Art Taipei has not only encouraged the development of local visual culture and art market, also turned itself into an global recognized professional art fair.

During Art Taipei, Art Taipei Forum (Asia Art Economy Forum in Taipei), an important platform for gallery directors, scholars, collectors, and press from all over the world to share and exchange information about Asian art markets, will also be held along with other events including Art Lecture, Art Video, Docent Program, and etc.

Over 200 applications, strictest qualification ever

Receiving applications from all over the world, Art Taipei has proved its own profession, also indicates the importance of Taiwan collectors to galleries world wide. In the age of art fairs, the qualification system has become more and more important in order to present the best works to collectors/audiences. Art Taipei 2013 invites Tang Contemporary Art from China, TOKYO GALLERY+BTAP from Japan, Hakgojae from Korea, SILVERLENS from Phillippines and Eslite Gallery from Taiwan to join the international selection committee team, and formed the domestic selection committee members by Da Xiang Art Space, East Gallery, Galerie Grand Siecle and Aki Gallery. Through condense discussion, eventually presented 150 galleries among over 200 candidates.

Gathering top galleries all over the world, shines out Asia

Over 50 percent of galleries are from abroad, Art Taipei presents galleries from Japan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, France, German, Greece, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, UK and US, in total 15 countries/areas, to open up the fair scale. Art Taipei also welcomes new faces such as Lehman Maupin from New York, Ben Brown Fine Arts from London, SILVERLENS gallery from Philippines, and Galerie Urs Meile from Switzerland. Repeaters to Art Taipei such as Pearl Lam Gallery, de Sarthe Gallery, Galerie Perrotin and Edouard Malingue Gallery all asked for much bigger space so as to present more complete collection. ShangArt, Tang Contemporary Art and many well-known galleries from China also participate in Art Taipei 2013, to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

Standing in Taiwan and welcomes the world, Art Taipei, with 20 years history, aims to present the best of its time to all visitors. World-known artists are invited to hold art talks, conversations and on-site performances, other interesting collateral programs will kick-out at once!
