We are pleased to announce that the 11th edition of Art Osaka 2013 will be held from July 20 to 21 at Hotel Granvia Osaka (preview July 19). 52 galleries not only from Kansai area, but also from different parts of Japan including Tokyo, Kanazawa and Hokkaido will participate in the fair. This edition will also feature 11 Korean galleries introducing a new generation of up-and-coming Korean artists.

Art Osaka was established in 2002 by a group of local galleries in Osaka with the purpose of showcasing the forefront of the Kansai (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe etc.) art scene. The fair is the oldest contemporary art fair in Japan and distinguished from other fairs in the following manners.

Firstly, Art Osaka aims to show new trends and phenomena on the art scene in different parts of Japan, while emphasizing the Kansai area represented by young generations of artists. Art Osaka offers each gallery an extra room, named EXHIBITION PLUS, to encourage them to run special exhibitions including thematic, solo exhibitions and installations by emerging artists.

Secondly, as Osaka is geographically closer to Korea, Taiwan and China, we focus on networking with Asian art communities and establish new partnerships with the arts sector in Korea and Taiwan. We regularly hold symposiums with Korean and Taiwanese galleries as part of the fair programs.
