Art Osaka 2012
Date: 6 Jul - 8 Jul 2012

In recent years, collecting art turned into a lifestyle. On the 10th anniversary of ART OSAKA, over 50 galleries representative of the international and local art stage specializing in contemporary art, are introducing works by both young and established artists to the public. We are pleased to announce that reputable galleries from Taiwan, Korea and China diversify the line-up. We look forward to the debut of Kanazawa, Gifu and Hokkaido galleries alongside those from the Kansai, Nagoya and Tokyo areas.

ART OSAKA 2012 is also proudly organizing the “Japanese Contemporary Art of the 1960s and the ‘70s” special exhibition focusing on the Gutai Art and Mono-ha postwar avant-garde movements. The art fair and special exhibition will be complemented by talks and several satellite events across Osaka. Come see a contemporary art fair enticing an audience curious to discover new emotions and insights into the rich possibilities of creativity. ART OSAKA is the right time and the right space for you to welcome art in Osaka.

Action and Abstraction Japanese Postwar Art
We are now living an extraordinary moment: Japanese Postwar Art is turning global. Recently, some of the greatest museums in the world, the Guggenheim and MoMA in NY, Tate in London and Centre Pompidou in Paris have been actively organizing Gutai, Mono-ha and contemporary Japanese art exhibitions.
The curators have put together a fascinating exhibit of some of the most unique artworks of the 1960s and ’70s in Japan. This Special Exhibition is an opportunity for you to reconsider the artistic qualities, originality, historical context, popular appeal, fun and marketability of Japanese art. We are highly recommending that you visit us and have a fresh look at the Great Masters of Japanese Postwar Art. Make sure you do not miss it.
