Art always is a personal matter and personal preference, which also reflect the individual artist’s understanding of nature, human beings and society, and are often difficult for others to understand. Different environments produce different culture and art, resulting in varied ways and angles of perceiving the world. The development of art also changes along with changes in the environment. Artwork is a spiritual product of the artist’s view of the world. There are as many different perspectives to observe the world as there are artists. "Mirage Series" and "Fruit Series" are recent works by Zhang Donghong. "Mirage Series "reflects the artist’s concerns and worries about the collective lost of traditional culture. The landscape in works is just a carrier that is vague and indistinct. The psychological feeling between visible and invisible is converted by this carrier from sensibility into a dream-like visual reality. "Fruit Series" merely changes the perspective, which takes common objects, for example, left-over stones, garbage bags, etc., as the carrier. Thjs series does not pursue internationalization, but integrates Chinese elements and philosophy. "Fruit Series" pays more attention to inner feelings, reflecting a philosophy of speculation about the self.
