A porte chiuse (Behind closed doors)
Artist(s): Claudio CAVALLARO
Date: 20 Jul - 6 Sep 2012

Curated by Cecilia Freschini, '"In camera" is the new project of Claudio Cavallaro which will be hosted at the Clou Gallery during this summer season. It is an installation of large circular effect that extends along the entire perimeter of the main room.

"Tree / Resurrection" is the poetic image of rebirth. Like a phoenix, known for its ability to be reborn from its ashes after death, the trunk of a withered tree is about to receive a new life.

At the center of the gallery, in fact, the root of a tree, with still attached a small part of the trunk, rests on a bed of ash. On some points of the charred roots settle butterflies painted with coal dust, as if they were born from those same wounds. The colors of the burns on the root merge with those of butterflies. Cables hanging from the roof of blacks who hold some wood lamps that recall the image of a crown. The installation will have a double vision, "white" and "black", due to the alternation between natural light and black light. This brightness unstable, on one side accentuates the strength of the work itself, on the other, dramatizes a conflict, referring to the precariousness of life, but also to his tenacity. It 'was during the darkest mystery of existence that emerges. The lamps give off a light blue / black that has been reflecting on various objects in different ways. The root, painted with a fluorescent resin transparent, turns blue ice, while the butterflies take on a fluorescent-yellow hue. On the bed of ashes appear as shadows, the extensions of some roots also painted with fluorescent resin.

A sense of sacredness lost along the entire production of Claudio Cavallaro, whose research is based on the concepts of resurrection, transcendence, change and transformation.
