2008 Plastic Arts Works of Rising Artists

Hosted by China Federation of Literature and Art Circles, China Literature and Art Foundation and China Artists Association, co-hosted by China Arts Newspaper, and undertaken by China Literature and Art Foundation, the 2008 Plastic Arts Works of Rising Artists Exhibition chose art works among over 2,600 pieces on the basis of being just, fair, and open through the art committee’s initial and final appraisals and under the on the spot supervision of the Beijing Zhengyang Notary Office. Artists of 46 art works have been awarded and 70 works are chosen to be exhibited. Among the art works of all rising artists, 5 win best prizes, 10 win excellent prizes and 31 are nominated as works of rising artists. The exhibition will be on from January 5 to January 13 at National Art Museum of China and there will be an academic symposium at the same time.

The tenet of the exhibition is to promote and encourage young artists to inherit and renovate the traditional Chinese art and display the new fruit of art with nationality, times spirit and innovation so that to push forward new inheritors to prosper and develop the art cause and finally promote the harmonious development of the whole society.

The aim of the exhibition is to seek a solution on how to handle academic thoughts about contemporary plastic arts and to analyze the practical problems in the process of creation and research so that to get rid of the stale and bring forth the fresh. The topic of the 2008 Plastic Arts of Rising Artists is Exploration and Innovation—the Nationality and Regionalism.

Of the exhibited works, audience could discover young artists’ attention of their times, and their acute view and close approach on life. They choose and show various sides of life by new means of form, style, and techniques of plastic arts. Just as Mr. Feng Yuan, the President of China Federation of Literature and Art Circles, standing Vice President of China Literature and Art Foundation, Vice President of the China Artists Association, said in the foreword of the exhibition, only when art absorbs , explores and surpasses during the process of inheriting the essence of traditional art, absorbing nutrition of the folk art and referring merits of contemporary art, could its exploration and innovation shape the character of contemporary art with nationality, times spirit and innovation.

We hope that more young artists would join the plastic arts exhibition and treat it as a practical opportunity to take their social responsibilities in creating excellent art works that reflect national cultural spirit and character that will live up to the times.
