Women's Rooms: Exhibition of Art Works by Finnish Women Artists
Date: 17 Mar - 13 Apr 2010
The National Art Museum of China in Beijing will present works by Finnish female artists from 17 March to 13 April 2010. The exhibited art is from the collections of the Ateneum Art Museum, the National Gallery of Finland. The exhibition is being organised by Ministry of Culture of the P.R. of China, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Finland and in collaboration with the Embassy of Finland in Beijing to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and China. At the same time the “Women’s Rooms” exhibition will be the biggest Finnish cultural event in Beijing this year.
A total of 72 works of art by 15 Finnish female artists have been selected for the “Women’s Rooms” exhibition. The works cover a period that stretches from the 1870s to the 1990s. Many of the pieces depict Finnish nature in its subtly different forms and in different seasons. Nature has traditionally been an important source of strength and rejuvenation for Finns.
