With the art works of teachers and students of Nanjing University of the Arts as the carrier, this exhibition is a brilliant history of centennial Nanjing University of the Arts in a narrow sense, and is an important chapter in the development history of modern Chinese art in a broad sense.

This exhibition is composed of four parts. The first part takes the public into the modern historical context of predecessor of Nanjing University of the Arts (namely Shanghai Fine Arts School founded by Mr.Liu Haisu and Suzhou Fine Arts School founded by Mr.Yan Wenliang) during 1912-1952. The second part takes the public into the modern historical context of Shanghai Fine Arts School, Suzhou Fine Arts School, East China Fine Arts School formed with the combination of art and music of Department of Art of Shandong University and Nanjing University of the Arts (in specific historical condition, once merged with art discipline of Nanjing Normal University into Jiangsu School of Revolutionary Literature and Art) during 1952-1978. The third part takes the public into the contemporary historical context of Nanjing University of the Arts in development during 1978-2012. The fourth part consists of works painted from Mount Huang for “expressing Mount Huang spirit, celebrating school centennial”. In order to carry forward the spirit of Mr.Liu Haisu climbing Mount Huang ten times, Nanjing University of the Arts organizes teachers and students to paint Mount Huang many times. The works of this part take the public into the context of interaction and sublimation between man and nature.

This exhibition opens a window for the public to know the spirit of substantial and simple beauty of Nanjing University of the Arts and to study the history of modern Chinese art with important literature value.
