Walking - Xiangqun LEE Art Exhibition
Artist(s): LI Xiangqun
Date: 22 Sep - 25 Sep 2012

As the first solo exhibition of Li Xiangqun in his 34 years of career, this exhibition will present the new breakthrough in his art and thought. Moreover, along with archives of Chinese modern art of Beijing University, the works carry out in-depth analysis for the problem awareness reflected in Li Xiangqun’s art with plenty of literatures, data and videos. The exhibition is mainly divided into three series: series portraits of Mao Zedong, Heap Cloud? Snowdrift series, etc. Great Forbidden City, nearly 200 m2 if unfolded, is totally cast with cupronickel and takes six years to finish. Many works will make their debut at this solo exhibition.

Li Xiangqun directly touches people’s nerve through the sense of sculpture, and resists and criticizes the individual history and reality to make breakthrough in the modernity of both art and politics. Undoubtedly, this exhibition will be full of surprise and thinking, and exerts impact on people’s soul through triggering conflict between physiological sense of absurdity and historical memory. This exhibition will definitely be a touching and unforgettable experience.
