Wang Jianan and Cai Xiaoli, two painters, graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1982 and went to Britain for artistic creation in 1988. Depending on the solid modeling skills and profound traditional artistic accomplishments they had obtained at home, as well as on their wisdom and diligence, they gradually opened up their own art space in the Western art world. After combing back and settling in recent years, they live in an environment rich in national traditional cultural atmosphere and devote themselves to paintings with great concentration. Just as Professor Michael Sullivan, a famous Sinologist at Oxford University, put it, they have “completely internalized” their experience in the West and the Chinese tradition. Their works have become “the graphic illustration of a unique cultural environment”.

This exhibition assembles more than 70 pieces of works created by Wang Jianan and Cai Xiaoli in recent years, which reveal the change and pursuit of the artists in style.
