Dream Vist to Dongting Lack
Artist(s): ZHAO Jianqiu
Date: 3 Mar - 14 Mar 2012

Mr Zhao Jianqiu was born in Yiyang, Hunan in 1955, and graduated from Academy of Fine Arts of Hunan Normal University. He now is a professor of Zhejiang Normal University, tutor for postgraduates, member of Chinese Artists Association and Chinese Claborate-style Painting Association, and visiting scholar of Chinese Art Research Institute. He attaches great importance to accomplishment in traditional culture, inheritance of traditional techniques, update of modern ideas and research on new skills. He sticks to the drawing method of “harmony between man and nature” and firmly believes the spirit of “benefit without harm” to advance with the times. He sat at the feet of Ceng Jingxiang, Zhong Yiqin, Du Ziling and Jia Youfu in succession. He stresses combination of Chinese and Western elements, integrates north and south painting styles and combines tradition and modernity; with forcible and vigorous strokes, firm yet brisk ink color, and grand yet elegant momentum, he forms a strong and distinct personal style.
