Towards a Brighter Future Through the Valley Of Darkness
Date: 1 Jul - 30 Sep 2009
What do you remember most about your parents? Going to the playground together? The food your mother cooked? Or being beaten up by them? Traces of physical punishments may have long faded away, yet a large amount of abusive words may still be buried deep inside a child’s mind and become a wound that will not heal. Parents beat us in order to train us to be proper and not do the wrong things, yet this objective often failed to realise. Why are we beaten up? We have no idea, yet those nasty words still linger on as if they were from yesterday. The damage on the soul might hurt more than the damage on the physical body. This installation is dedicated to those who lived through the dark generation of physical punishment and have finally arrived at the brighter future.
