To open up more platforms to promote art, the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC) will showcase a short film a month on the HKAC’s elevator screens, giving our visitors a chance to enjoy some fascinating and meaningful works. ifva-winning Lilian Fu’s animated shorts, commissioned by the 10th Anniversary of Greenpeace, already kick-started our short and sweet monthly series to raise public awareness of environmental issues.
In June, the HKAC will present Fu’s work Electronic Waste (2007/ Col/ No Dialogue & No Subtitles/ 0’45”). In 2005, Greenpeace exposed the illegal cross-border hazardous electronic waste trade in Hong Kong. The resulting media coverage and public attention led to the government’s investigation and crackdown on many e-waste scrap yards in Fanling.
