Fine Art Asia 2011
Date: 3 Oct - 7 Oct 2011

FINE ART ASIA 2011, now firmly established as Asia’s leading annual fine art and antiques fair, will present an outstanding display of high quality works of art from both East and West at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Monday 3 to Friday 7 October 2011.

The most prestigious fine art fair in the region takes place at the height of the important art auction season in October in Hong Kong, which attracts an affluent and appreciative audience of major dealers, collectors and connoisseurs from both Asia and around the world.

Now in its 7th edition, FINE ART ASIA will present its strongest international line-up yet, with over 80 renowned, selected dealers from Asia, Europe and the USA. This indicates the significant turning point in the appreciation level of Western and Oriental fine art that many informed collectors in Asia are now demonstrating, and Hong Kong’s increasingly important position in the global art and antiques market.

The fair will showcase ASIAN and WESTERN ART and ANTIQUES, FINE ART JEWELLERY and MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART. The amazing array of museum-quality exhibits will range from ancient Chinese stone wares, Himalayan bronzes, Chinese ceramics and works of art, furniture, textiles and jades, to fine art jewellery, antique silver and exceptional modern and contemporary artworks from both Asia and the West.

Leading international dealers returning to FINE ART ASIA 2011 include Michael Goedhuis (London), Robert Hall (London), Rossi & Rossi (London), Robert Kleiner (London), Sundaram Tagore (New York, Beverly Hills and Hong Kong), Kai-Yin Lo (Hong Kong), Somlo Antiques (London), Teresa Coleman Fine Arts (Hong Kong), Plum Blossoms Gallery (Hong Kong), Jacqueline Simcox (London), Nicholas Grindley (London), MD Flacks (New York) and Galerie Dumonteil (Paris and Shanghai).

New renowned dealers attending the fair this October include Mallett (London), Veronique Bamps (Monaco), Robert Bowman Gallery (London), Koopman Rare Art (London), Littleton & Hennessy Asian Art (London, New York), Priestley & Ferraro Chinese Art (London), Gioia (New York), Siegelson (New York), F2 Gallery (Beijing), Carlton Hobbs (New York), Waterhouse and Dodd (London), Berwald Oriental Art (London), Da Peng Ge (Beijing) and Wui Po Kok (Hong Kong).

Contemporary art dealer Sundaram Tagore, who has supported FINE ART ASIA since its inception in 2006, said, "I have participated in this fair for many years. I believe this is the most important and beautifully presented fair in Asia and that is why it is billed as the "Maastricht of Asia".

Lewis Smith of Koopman Rare Art of London, a new exhibitor to the fair, said, "With the recent excitement in great English silver developing in the Far East, we are thrilled to find a high-quality exhibition to show rare and highly-collectible pieces of great English silver."

Cui Xian Dong of Da Peng Ge, a new exhibitor from Beijing dealing in antique jades, said, "The appeal and authority of Hong Kong's FINE ART ASIA fair is now well recognized by serious Asian collectors and dealers."

According to "The Global Art Market in 2010", a report prepared by Dr. Clare McAndrew, a Dublin-based arts statistician and consultant, 2010 saw China overtake Britain to become the second biggest art market after the USA. Although wealth and art buying remain concentrated in a very small section of China’s population, there are strong indicators for the potential future growth in art sales.

Further evidence of the strength of the Asian art market, especially of China, was also seen at the April and May 2011 auction sales in Hong Kong, with results far exceeding the pre-sale estimates.

Andy Hei, the founder and director of FINE ART ASIA, said: "We are delighted that the appreciation level of Asian collectors is now beginning to emerge as a force not only in contemporary art, but also in the traditional fine art and antiques sectors. Our policy has always been to develop the fair gradually by concentrating on quality, in order to promote FINE ART ASIA confidently as the authoritative fair in Asia for dealers and collectors who are working at the top end of the market."

An Academic Programme of lectures and seminars by leading art experts from Hong Kong and overseas will be held during the fair, promoting art knowledge and appreciation, as well as providing an opportunity for discussion and dialogue on the latest developments in the global art scene.

For the sixth consecutive year, FINE ART ASIA 2011 is sponsored by Chong Hing Bank.
