Asia Contemporary Art Show 2014
Date: 15 May - 18 May 2014

Final preparations are underway for the fourth edition of the Asia Contemporary Art Show, which opens with an invitation-only VIP Collectors Preview on Thursday May 15th and runs through to Sunday evening May 18th on five floors at the Conrad Hong Kong.

With 102 exhibitors from 19 countries around the world showing over 3,000 works by some 400 artists, the Show is the largest and most influential ‘satellite’ event to Art Basel Hong Kong. Collectors and art lovers can browse and buy from a wide selection of works from some of the world’s most interesting and up-and-coming artists.

“Our theme for this year is ‘Bringing a World of Art to Hong Kong’,” said Mark Saunderson, Director of the Asia Contemporary Art Show. “The diversity and quality of paintings, limited editions, sculpture and photography which we will present in May represents a year of planning, outreach to five continents, and careful selection and curation. We are delighted with the results, and think local and international collectors will be also.

“Works on show include those from celebrated artists with a proven history of auction and secondary market sales like Andy Warhol, Sir Peter Blake, Banksy, Zhao Kai Lan, Ling Jian, Yayoi Kusama, Yoshio Yoshimura, Yoo Sun Tai and Mikhail Molochnikov, as well as emerging artists from countries as diverse as China, Vietnam, Japan, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Australia and the USA,” Saunderson added.

Along with increasing quality and diversity, another key focus of the Show is to provide opportunities for collectors and art lovers to meet and interact with the artists themselves. “We will be welcoming more than 70 artists to the Show this year, and know from previous events that art buyers enjoy meeting the creative minds behind the works on display, and understanding what inspires and motivates them. The artists also enjoy engaging with and learning from visitors at the Show, and in some cases this is their first visit to Hong Kong,” said Saunderson.
