The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is the first local museum to collect, study and promote local designs as part of its mission and, since opening at the end of 2000, it has played an active role in organising exhibitions and events related to design. Fashion has always been of paramount importance to Hong Kong’s creative industries and as such has become one of the focal points for the museum’s collections.
The “Fashion Visionaries” exhibition organised by the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA) was one of the most important programmes presented by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at its pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai. Thanks to its collaboration with the HKFDA on the exhibition, the museum is now able to bring this magnificent event from Shanghai to Hong Kong. Showcasing the amazing work of iconic Hong Kong designers, film art directors, fashion photographers, illustrators and young fashion designers, as well as photos and information of models, the exhibition is accompanied by a series of fashion parades and education activities. Exploring the development of Hong Kong’s fashion design industry, it also represents an excellent outlet for promoting Hong Kong’s diversified culture, our distinguished design achievements and our position as Asia’s world city.
Jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association Co-organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association
