Art @ Government Buildings
Date: 27 Oct 2010 - 1 Nov 2011

With a view to promoting public art to the local communities and providing opportunities for tertiary students in Hong Kong to learn about and participate in public art project, Home Affairs Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is presenting the "Art @ Government Buildings" project. The Art Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will help with the organization while the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Public Art Hong Kong are invited as Artistic Collaborators. The project will beautify government office buildings with artistic elements, and will offer users and visitors new artistic experience. Through an invitation for artistic proposals to local artists, the project commissioned 3 leading artists (Man Fung-yi, Leung Chi-wo and Justin Wong Chiu-tat) to create artworks for 3 specified Government buildings (Tsuen Wan Government Offices, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices and Wan Chai Revenue Tower respectively), and to provide Mentorship Programme to 3 groups of university students who will be working with the artists to complete the public artworks throughout the project. A six-month display is scheduled from June to November 2011 during which the artists and students will be able to share their thoughts through guided tour. For the venue overview, preliminary artistic proposals and details of Mentorship Programme, please refer to the attachments (Chinese version ONLY).
