SCAD Hong Kong presents "Transparency Engine," a solo exhibition of works by artist Michael Joo in a site-specific installation at Moot Gallery. The collection features glass sculptural works from recent and related bodies of work that have never been shown in Asia. Joo has become well known for creating seemingly liquid and hybrid environments that reflect his own unique background and history – born to Korean parents in the United States and working across the disciplines of science and art the diversity of reference in his works mirror the complexity and richness of life in modern contemporary society. In this exhibition Joo delves deeper into an object’s form and function exploring the themes of social space and social control in his work, encouraging visceral experiences with the viewer.
