In A Matter of Choice, Kevin Fung Lik-yan explores the abundance of choices that daily life presents and the impact made by the decisions we make. Fung took inspiration from lives related to the location, or to be precise, the mover and shaker wannabe in Central, the financial hub of the city.
Unfolding tension and frustration matter-of-factly faced by ordinary people is a common trace in Fung’s works. Because of his career in the early years as an engineer, Fung has taken inspirations from the battlefield back to the studio. Apart from what he witnessed, making the life-changing decision to pursue his art full time in 2011 was obviously a matter of choice to the artist. Featuring a selection of eight sculptural works for the first time, it is an opportunity to review what choices in life we have or have not made that make us today.
