Alcaston Gallery is proud to present an exciting new exhibition by Kaiadilt artists: Sally Gabori, Netta Loogatha & Elsie Gabori.
This brilliant selection of new paintings and works on paper in pencil & watercolour brings together the unique styles of these three Kaiadilt women, who each portray the tropical seascape of their country on Bentinck Island in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland.
Sally Gabori, one of the leading contemporary Australian Indigenous artists painting today, continues to take the viewer on a visual journey through life, landscape and memory in her art. Three major paintings by Sally Gabori were exhibited at the Palazzo Bembo in the Personal Structures exhibition, as part of the 55th Venice Biennale.
This exhibition also features amazing work by Netta Loogatha, one of the renowned seven ‘sisters’ who burst onto the art scene in 2005 with her vibrant and unique depictions of country, and emerging artist and daughter of Sally Gabori, Elsie Gabori who continues to draw creative influence from her mother, while developing her own artistic style of portraying her home on Bentinck Island.
